The Trip

After leaving our jobs, giving our parents a few more gray hairs, and selling/storing all of our personal belongings, we are hopping into a 2002 Jeep Wrangler with 131,000 miles on it and hitting the road! Taking the southern route, we will be stopping & staying with friends/family along the way, final destination: Northwestern CO where we will stay & work for the winter season... From there, nobody knows!

San Antonio

Yes, we have been slacking on the blog, but we'll just say it's because we've been having so much fun!

Monday we went to San Antonio College to see an art exhibit & lecture that was part of their FotoSeptiembre month. The exhibit was a collection of photographs by 6 different artists and the theme was about connecting nature with urban culture. The lecture was given by Keith Carter, a notable photographer, and he spoke about how any piece of art is in some way an autobiography of the artist. He showed many of his favorite pieces, including one that was captured in the background of a picture of Barack Obama with his wife- the piece is hanging on the wall of their bedroom! He also has an entire series of medical photos of himself & his eyes from when he was being treated for some kind of eye disease. He took those photos and superimposed them over photos taken from a telescope of planets and other celestial objects, to create some very interesting images.

Tuesday we went to Jessie's family physician because Laura has an ear infection :-( Thank goodness I kept my health insurance active!! So now anytime my ear gets wet (ie swimming, shower, etc.), I have to use swimmer's ear drops and whenever possible, blow-dry the moisture out! sheesh!

Tuesday night was spent creating a Winchester-original outfit because I found out that one of my favorite bands, Semi Precious Weapons, was coming to Texas!! So naturally, I had to make sure I would be looking glamofabulous! Jessie & Heather watched me in amazement (at how crazy I can sometimes be!) as I punched eyelets into the sides of a white tank top in order to lace hot pink shoelaces through; then cut out stencils and spray-painted some graphics onto it; and lastly, added a few glitter-spray accents.... Seriously considering making it a profession!

Add some spandex leggings and shoes with lots of straps, and we were ready to party like rockstars!
