Me: Hi, I was just wondering how much it costs to stay at your campground with a tent for one night?
Attendant: Well its $20 if you want water and electric.
Me: Oh, we're staying in a tent so we probably wouldn't be able to use water & electric, right?
Attendant: Well that all depends, some people like to hook their RV's up every other day to save a little or if they're not going to be around all day.
Me: But we only have a tent and don't have any way to hook up to those units... Do you have a price for just tents without water and electric?
Attendant: Oh you say you're just camping with a tent?
Me: Yes! How much is it for a tent-only site for 1 night?
Attendant: $10 or $20 if you want water & electric...
Me: ... ok well can I call you back in about 10 minutes?
Attendant: Now what would you be wanting to call back for?
Me: To make a reservation...?
Attendant: Oh you don't have to make a reservation, just come on down and pick a site.
Me: well we're going to be getting in pretty late so don't I have to set this all up ahead of time like with a credit card or something? And how do I know which site to go to if the office is closed when we get there?
Attendant: oh no, just come on down and when you drive in, you'll see all the tents- you can pay in the morning.
Me: so I just drive around until I find a site, camp there, and then pay when I leave in the morning?
Attendant: yes.
Maybe I'm just new to camping, but that just seems really random!
So we got here, set up our tent under a palm tree near the only other tent we could find after driving around the ENTIRE park, and are now lying in it listening to the critters moving about in the forest behind us... and the sweat dripping off our bodies in this lovely Georgia 76-degree, 99% humidity weather... and that's no exaggeration! I got it from weather.com and I do not find it the least bit hard to believe that there is the most water in the air possible without actually raining! its GROSS!!
