Yacht Club

Today we got up relatively early (9am) and went for another jog/walk then went to the beach which was absolutely gorgeous! We made fajitas for dinner and then went out to the Yacht Club for some high class entertainment... Little did we know but the first people who approached us decided to be our bff's and invited us to be a part of their "open relationship"! Apparently this area of NC has a large population of swingers and this couple was more than eager to introduce us to their liberated lifestyle!! So after a few awkward moments we were extremely relieved to discover that they had quite a few friends who were not active participants of this lifestyle and we ended up having a very enjoyable evening with some military folk and left with both our dignity and this interesting story to tell! Lesson learned: when someone tells you that he/she & their spouse have an "open relationship", run away FAST!

Vacation

The last 2 days are pretty typical vacation: woke up when we felt like it, lounged around in our pj's until we felt like getting dressed, and pretty much did nothing, and enjoyed every minute of it! last night we visited the hot tub with a few bottles of wine, and even tho Laura couldn't go in all the way (still being over-protective of my ink!), she was still feeling the full effects of the wine enhanced by the heat... evident when she walked face-first into the sliding glass door! -I swear it was Aunt Libby's immaculate housekeeping because that glass is so clear I thought the door was still open!! But despite the slight headaches this morning we both woke up at 7am to watch Uncle Jimmy feed his flock of pigeons; they typically sit on the power lines waiting for him to emerge from the garage with a bucket of bird seed & whatever organic matter may have been left over from the previous day. However, this morning they were circling nervously, clearly weighing the benefits of a free meal against the earlier hawk sighting... Eventually, thru the gentle coaxing by Uncle Jimmy, his "gals" settled down and went to work on the lawn surrounding him- we counted about 50 pigeons before a second flock joined in... Needless to say it was quite a sight! After the morning feeding we promptly returned to bed (I know none of our followers are surprised), and got up again around 10, but to our own credit, upon waking, we quickly got dressed and went for a quick morning jog/walk around the block (approx 1 mile)! The rest of the day was spent lounging by the pool, sweating profusely, and watching lifetime movies in the evening... yeah, its a tough life out here 'on the road'... ;-)

NC At Last!

11 hours spent in a car isn't your typical definition of a good time, but add in the heat that the engine of a jeep wrangler kicks off directly into the front cab area, in addition to the 90- degree east coast humidity following a hurricane that never really hit, as well as the traffic we encountered during the entire state of Virginia (which, I might add is the longest state either of us have driven thru yet), and top it all off with a still-mediocre-manual-transmission-driver, and I think you will agree that Webster has a new addition to their definition of the word Hell... so besides the cute guys we got to wave to in a neighboring jeep, the ultimate highlight of today would have to be finding a Domino's restaurant that was still open at 11pm once we had passed thru the endless miles of cornfields & pig country on empty stomachs! We arrived safe & sound at Uncle Jimmy & Aunt Libby's house and are very excited to sleep in our own individual beds in an air-conditioned room with a pool that will be calling our names when we wake up around 11... or whenever we feel like it! ;-)

Night 2: Philly

so we decided to stay a 2nd night with patti since we got in so late last night, plus we're trying to avoid this hurricane named Earl which seems determined to make our drive to NC unpleasant, to say the least... Anyway, we had lunch with Patti at a cute little pizza place where she works and the owner liked us so much that he offered us the opportunity to work there tomorrow for some extra cash!! too bad we're gonna be on the road to NC tomorrow morning (and the pay wasn't quite enough to make us reconsider...). then we had dinner with Joanna (Laura's sister) at El Vez- some of the best and largest amounts of guacamole that 3 girls could possibly consume! after that we made a pit-stop on south street at our favorite almost-hole-in-the-wall which also happens to employ one of our favorite bartenders ;-) and patti met back up with us to go get tattooed!! we will post pics as soon as we can figure out how... having some technical difficulties in that department at the moment... heading to bed now and then off to NC in the am!

1st stop: Maple Shade, NJ

after a few minor delays and lots of last-minute errands we finally departed CT around 9:00pm... hot and tired we just arrived at Patti's house in Maple Shade, NJ and are definitely grateful for the bed we're sleeping on! by the way- the rumors are true; NJ really does stink! I think we passed a fish farm that closed up and left the inventory in Trenton... :-p
